Packet Bus Error 1

I am having trouble isolating a packet bus alarm in my port network 2. The TN771D Maintenance Card is in reconfig. I have replaced this card, ensured the vintages match on all equipment that is duplicated, reseated all the TDM Bus cables, and replaced the bus terminator. This is a hospital, so I hate to shut down the cabinete, but if need be I will start shuting down carriers and moving the terminator until the alarm resets just to ID what carrier it's in. I was hoping to find an easier way to ferret it out. Any Ideas? It's a G3SI V11 with duplicate processors

Post the error codes and alarms. It sounds like you may have been through this route but few more sets of eyes on it may save you from shutting anything down.

Plus we have a few guys here that have worked on these since conception, so they may have some ideas for you.

Not sure if you have this or not. It May help if you have not found this section.

I can't thank you enough for this information Although I am at R11 I am still trying to work with R6 Documentation that was written in 98 and is no where near this in depth. One of the casualties of buying an upgrade from a reseller who doesn't care or is too busy to follow through. AVAYA dropped them as a partner they still can't figure out why.


When you say code brackets.... is that and option when exporting from ASM

we had a similar problem...hospital environment also... WE could not really drop the carrier to troubleshoot, so we opened a ticket with AVAYa, contacted our vendor, and worked through it..

we swapped maintenance boards with another close by carrier, and that did not change the alarms..

we found that the sync on the cabinet was set wrong, and corrected that problem...no dice..

We had just performed some major changes on that cabinet (added a bunch of phones, changed some circuit packs, etc.etc.. )

We started working backwards and found that there were 3 DS1 boards that were waiting for the circuits to be turned up. They were configured and sitting idle. We busied out and removed those boards, and haven't seen the PKT-BUS alarms since.

I'm not implying that this is the same problem you have (hell, I'm not 100% sure the Ds1 boards were our problem..), just the methodology that we used helped us work backwards and now we are running clean.

We are in the process of developing a log to keep up with changes on the switch, so we can work backwards if we need to.
