I hope I am posting to the right thread. If not please accept my apologies.

My Aloha is about 5 - 6yrs old and I am running XP with SP2. My "problem" is the time taken by the POST when I switch the computer on - it takes 2 - 3 minutes before Windows starts loading and it's annoying me. My question: is it possible to either speed up the POST or to avoid this step all together?

Hmmm....not sure what an "Aloha" is but "Aloha" to you too!

Best way to speed up POST times on a PC is to go into BIOS and set the hard drive as the first boot device. I would also look around in the BIOS for other options (fast-detect, etc.) that could possibly have an effect of boot times. One of the real culprits is "floppy disk seek" when there is no floppy installed. Also, disable any ports you're not using, like serial or LPT1 etc. Write down any and all changes you make to the BIOS and do them one at a time, rebooting with a stopwatch/timer in between to see the success/failure rate. Best of luck!

Thanks for your time Tony. I'll have a go at your suggestions tonight.
