Hi.

I come from a VB programming background, but a couple of months ago I began developing an application in MS Access 2002. I just found out today that there is a Developer's edition of Access 2002 which would include a Package and Deployment Wizard add-in which I would like to use. I also have VB6 (w/ service pack 5) and it includes a Packaging and Deployment Wizard add-in. This add-in, as far as I can tell, is not accessible from Access 2002 (I'm guessing it's because Access 2002 is more of an Office XP thing and VB6 is not).

So, I'm looking for options. I really don't want to have to buy the Developer Edition of Access 2002. Is there a way to get the Packaging and Deployment Wizard in Access 2002 without having to buy the Developer Edition?

I'm wanting to use this wizard because it allows me, as I understand it, to deploy the Access app I am developing with the Access runtime so the users don't have to have individual copies of Access on their machines.

Is there another option to this wizard?

Thanks.

Sorry, AFAIK you will have to fork out for the Office Developers Edition if you want to create Access runtimes. The VB PDW will not contain the files to create an Access runtime as this is installed as a seperate application.
You will either have to bite the bullet and fork out for it, or use VB to create the front ends to your databases.
Personally I would spend the money, but that's my own preference.

Good luck

Hi All!

Is there any site where i can download the Microsoft Office 2000 Developer (or its any version)from? Is the PDW available also in the MOD2000?

Thanks for your help in advance!

You can't download the ODE (unless you are talking about warez, which is most unwise in a forum such as this!)
You will need to buy it from Microsoft.
If you are after the Office 2k ODE specifically, you will need to buy the full retail version of XP ODE, then get in touch with Microsoft.
From
"The standard procedure to accomplish a downgrade (one which is not covered under an existing EULA), is to purchase the current retail version of a product, and then submit a written request to the Permissions/Copyright Group in the Microsoft Legal Department requesting the downgrade. We require that requests to downgrade be submitted on a product-by-product basis. If downgrade rights are not granted to you under your product EULA, you must obtain written permission to downgrade."

You can buy it pretty Cheap-check ebay. In fact, I bought XP Dev for $450.00 that's like almost as cheap as Office Proffesional.
