I can not seem to get an install setup that works.
I have tried Installshield, InnoSetup, and the Access Developers Kit to create an install package that installs both my application files and the 2000 Access runtime.
I can't get any of them to work right.
I don't want a complicated install...install the basic files of the program (.mdb, and a few other picture files and folders), register one dll and install Access 2000 runtime. That's it.
I am ready to pull my hair out, so if anyone has an easy step by step process with one of these three programs that works, I really need some help. It should not be this difficult.

You could use a self-extracting zip and a batch file set to run automatically on unzip.
registering a dll: regsvr32 dllname
etc. etc.

ESquared,

How do you create a self-extracting zip file?

any knowledge-base articles on this?

I too am ready to pull my hair out. Access Package Wizard is very buggy, I have Windows XP and it doesn't work when I install my app on windows 2000. I've thought about using
SageKey, their package is supposed to be good, but is $425. now I'm looking into InstallShield X Express....

thanks!

Download software like WinZip and read the help files to learn how to make a self-extracting zip file.

cwarner, please try to refrain from triple posting the same question (especially three times in the SAME forum!)

I ended up buying the SageKey, which for the most part works, but is still missing some basic things that I had to add with Orca. I have never found any instructions on how to use Orca so working through that was a pain.
