Ive read intel p4 640 3.2 ghz CPU should maintain under 39 Celcius but ive also seen much higher numbers in articles etc. ....

Is the temperature >= 40 degrees acceptable ??

system spec:
P4 640 3.2 ghz
ASUS P5N32 Mobo
512Mb 667 Mhz DDR2 RAM
Nvidia 7900 GT Vid card
Lian li case - 4 exhaust fans 1 intake

avg temp 31 to 34 at idle
under load 38-43

Opinions?

BTW...

Mobo temp is reported @ 29 C
GPU temp is reported @ 47 C

Sounds ok to me.I am running a Prescott p4 3gig Hyper Threading. When i boot up cold the cpu is at 51 degrees,Motherboard 27 degrees.Dont know about my GForce 256 meg card but never have any probs. When burning discs the cpu goes as high as 70 degrees.I run Motherboard Monitor and a utility calle true off.I can set them to shut down at any temp
also have a gig of 3200 ddr ram..Have had this system for almost 2 yrs and never any problem,so i think you will be ok.Have fun!
