I am trying to install OWS on a client form the server over a network.

It's possible to ping the server and to map a drive to install the software.
In the DNA installation menu i fill in the ip adress of the DNA server but i always get a error message "remote computer cannot be connected"

Does anyone know which tcp/ udp port is used??

I have a network woth firewall, NAT, different IP ranges.

Please some good advice for this case!!!

have you put the name of the server in the host file of client, ping the name and then put the name in during install? DNA uses the server name not IP address.

best parnum

That's correct,

I'm working with an LMHOSTS file.(been there , done that!)

So that is tested, i think that the network is too slow and i get a timeout constantly.

I am going to look for that but any other tip's are welcome!!

the windows user you are installing with, does it have administrative rights on the DNA server? (the installation writes remotely into the registry of the DNA server)

NO,

The user i use on the client is the admin user on the server.

did you make an adminstrative share towards the server (map c$ for example)?

I get the same reaction , with or without share.

I'm doing clients since 2002.
I had to cope with a lot of issues but this is new for me.

you said you have a firewalled environment (I missed reading that part).

is the netbios port blocked?(I believe it is 139)
then that would be your issue...

if not, do a wireshark trace and get the network monkeys handling your problem...
