OWA works internally but not externally 1

Ok I'm in a rut and can't figure out what is going wrong.

I've recently not been able to get web access to our exchange mailboxes.

If I attempt to log on to a mailbox by opening an internet explorer window on our exchange server, it gets through fine and i can access any mailbox. It fails when i try to do the same from an external PC.

We have recently had problems with our ISP which has meant we needed to move from having a static IP address to a dynamic one. Could this be causing the problem? We've had so many problems with the server and router recently I'm not sure if whilst trying to fix things I've made a change somewhere that is stopping web access.

The fact that i can get on internally but not externally seems to point to it being a port forwarding issue with the router. I've checked a thousand times and port 443 is open for HTTPS and forwarded to our server (we are using SSL).

I am lost to think what else could cause this behaviour. Can anyone advise me if this kind of behaviour is possible if something else is going on..... its possible that i've changed a configuration setting to try to resolve problems with recieving our mail when we switched to dynamic ip from static and i haven't reversed the change.

We are running Exchange 2003.

Please help! I'm close to hanging myself!
 
Having a dynamic address is going to cause a fair amount of problems, especially if you're using that dynamic address for delivery of email as well.

You're likely correct in that it's a router/port forwarding issue.

If it works internally, but not externally, it's almost always a routing or DNS resolution problem.
