Just loaded owa 5.5 on a 2000 server. Our exchange server is running nt 4.0 with exchange 5.5. I cannot tell if it will work or not. It is not setup on our router yet. Is there a way to test it from inside. I am not sure if it is setup right.

sure, load up IE and type in your servername/exchange and your webmail should pop up.

Thanks, I did that and got a error
error type:
Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A01A8)
Object required: 'Application(...)'
/exchange/USA/logon.asp, line 12

I checked technet, checked for registry corruption as they pointed to. Found nothing. I DO NOT have nt 4.0 option pack on the nt box running exchange 5.5. Where I am running owa 5.5 on a 2000 box, do I need it?

Thanks

agreed. Install Exchange SP4 and then reboot. It seems your IIS and OWA aren't getting along. It will work once you re-install SP4

Thanks,
I put on exchange sp5. Still will not working. I keep getting the above error message.

I am at a loss now. Can not get a handle on the problem.

I think my problem is with IIS. There is no IUSR account in user manager that should have been created from IIS. I cant give permissions on the container in DS SITE Configuration. Everything else looks ok. I am using the default site in IIS. I would have thought OWA did it's setup there.

Do you even read what we're suggesting you should do?
IUSR account, or lack thereof, does not cause VBScript runtime errors.

Yes,

Tried everything that everyone kindly has posted. In the order they were posted.

well, SP4 should have fixed it. What I would do is:
a. remove OWA
b. apply win2ksp4
c. install owa
d. install exchange5.5 sp4

I took owa off, applied win2ksp4, installed owa, and put the exchange sp4 on and it worked! I could not log into my mailbox. Does not recognize any users. But you all have been very helpfull. Thanks NOktar.

If you use basic authentication you have to grant your users permission to "log on locally", if using NT challenge/response it is not necessary. You would set that up on IIS under folder security options.
Remember, basic auth is clear text so it is not recommended unless used over SSL. If OWA is installed on a computer other than the actual exchange server only basic auth can be used.

Maybe a dumb question, but do you apply exchange SP4 to OWA? I'm running the same configuration and have uninstalled OWA and am reloading Win2k SP4 right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.... Thanks in advance
