Can anyone please tell me how I can change the port number that Outlook Web Access runs on, and what the default port number is?

Many thanks,
Tom Bell

Yes, but you can alter the port on which it runs. Not all web stuff runs on port 80, that is just the default.

Basically, it's a web page using IIS. IIS can use any port it wants, but if you don't use port 80 (HTTP) when people type:

http:\\yourcompany.com/exchange , they will get a Page Not Found if you don't use port 80.

Otherwise, you will need to instruct your OWA users to type:

http:\\yourcompany.com/exchange:<portnumber>

where <portnumber> will be the port you opened. You will also need to make sure the port is open on your firewall too... so it complicates things when you don't use the default port 80.

Ok, granted, but you must be able to assign ports to individual sections of the IIS config.

The exchange server is a dell PE 4600, and you can access the dell openmanage software, which is web based on the server, by typing This site will be run by IIS, as any web content on that box will be, but it does not use the default port.

Any more ideas??

Well, the only thing I can think of is that you create a redirection page from the original one:

You program your IIS to receive the incoming client on port 80 for but you redirect it to , where xxxx is the port number you will tell IIS to use for your virtual web page. (in the page propreties, you can set which port number to use).

This way, nobody gets any Page Not Found errors and you use a different port than 80. You still need to set your firewall to accept incoming request for the port XXXX.

Or, you can just let people type: without the redirection ... either way, it will work on a different port.

Hope this helps.

smallcheese, open your Internet Information Services, go to the Default WebSite - Right-click to get to the properties and on the Web Site tab, change the port 80 to any free port you want, for example 2080.

You can then access the server by using:
, NOT the format ReddLefty gave you!
