I've been searching past posts for about a day now and can't seem to find anything relating to my problems so here goes.

Windows 2000, Exchange 5.5, Service Pack 4.

Problem #1:

I've got OWA installed and on a LAN computer I can get to the login screen via: "
I enter a username or an alias and hit enter and a separate dialog box pops up asking for a username and password. I have tried countless combinations of my name, my alias, my email address, with the domain name before it, domain name.com, \, with no success.

Problem #2:

When I try to access OWA from a non LAN machine, at home at the gym, where ever with the URL up above I can't even get to the login page.

I've got the 853 page manual on my lap right now and can't find what I'm looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

problem #1: Your Windows 2000 needs to be part of the domain. Under IIS on the Exchange virtual folder, make sure your domain name is listed under Basic Authentication.

problem #2: check your company firewall for port 80.

Be sure you are using your domain account in the authentication window - not your mailbox name, alias, etc. Keep in mind that if you're being denied access, you've got a permissions issue (share permissions, that is). To ensure permissions are set properly, go to
If you get a yellow screen with the message that OWA could not get to your inbox, make sure your mailbox is not hidden from the GAL.

As Dennisbbb said, ensure that port 80 is open TO THE OWA SERVER, not to your entire network.

When all else fails, READ THE DAMN BOOK!
