My Color LaserJet 4500n is out of yellow toner, but I desperately need to print a black and white document. Unfortunately it won't let me until I replace the yellow toner. Is there any way to override it until I get yellow toner tomorrow?

Greetings Genimuse,

It's too late now, I know, but you could install the black-and-whitedriver (uninstall colour driver).

This way your PC shouldn't bother with colour or error messages for colour.

Kindest regards,

James

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunatetly it's not the PC that's complaining, it's the control panel on the printer itself. I had tried a B&W driver earlier with no success: the darned machine just insists on not even listening for print jobs until it has all of its toner.

the 4500 will not let you by-pass. it is programed in the printer
it used all the colors to print every color, even black.

your only solution is to do as the printer asks and replace the toner.

Which of course I did. Unfortunately that's pretty lame.

O-kay!

There is a TONER OUT setting in the CONFIGURATION MENU.

If this is set to OVERRIDE, you should be able to continue printing regardless.

Kindest regards,

James
