I am designing something that will be printed on a clear vinyl; I have to put a white base color down and then the top part of the graphic over the white so it will have a solid white base beneath it. The top is a gradient blue. I have tried the overprint but is does not print all the white that is need to make it all happen. What do I need to do to make this happen?

Could try substitute the white with any other spot colour and overprint the new colour rather than white.

When you say does not print all the white - make sure the spot colour/white substitute is one single object - to be on the
safe side.
