When I use a FC picture (TIFF) with a coloured background in a newspaper, the background color slips slightly in the picture. For example, when I have a photo on a green background, the photo will have a "light greenish" apearence, especially in the light/white parts. I use certified PDF, maybe that could be the problem.

try this. click on your picture and go to VIEW show trap information and click the overprint setting to knockout. this should put a hole in the background area so your picture prints onto white paper instead of the picture. Also try setting the fill in your picture box to 0% black, apparantly you should do this when sending tiffs out for repro.
