We have a new facility that we installed some overhead paging for.

We have received complaints stating that they can not hear pages from analog phones (500 sets) but pages from digital phones (390x) are just fine.

This is an Option 61C running Succession 4.0.

Has anyone seen anything like this before..??

Thanks in advance

Verify that the analog users are using the same paging code as the digitals. Monitor the paging trunk with a butt-set. Are the analog sets paging to a different zone than the digitals?

both post are right.. it may be a single analog phone that has a low transmission level.. it could almost be a bad card.. but all analogs having low volume would be noticed prior to connecting to paging...

all analogs with the same problem would have to trac to a bad power supply.. have you measured the voltage on your analog stations?

There are other paging trunks out at this location and they are working fine. This site was orginally a single column Option 61 that we expanded to a second column. The new paging trunk is located in the new column.

So, when you are talking about a bad power supply, are you talking about in the shelf where the analog cards are located..?? Sorry, but I am a novice when it comes to that part of the hardware.

I have been told that the volume on the analog phones is fine when talking station to station, it is just when trying to perform overhead paging.

Thanks for the pointers and I will update this after talking with my vendor.

I wanted to give a quick update to everyone. The paging is working just fine now. In this case, our technicians provided the paging trunk from the PBX through a maze of IDF's to an amplifier. From there, the company who installed the overhead paging system interfaced from the amplifier into their equipment.

The location of the amplifier and the paging equipment is an extremely high security area where access is very limited. Once our techs were able to get full access to the location, they found that the paging company did not follow our directions and attached their cable to the wrong output of the amplifier.

Once our technicians found that they connected to the 20v outout rather than the recommended 70v outout, they change the connectiona and all worked just fine.

Thanks for all suggestions.
