I have a question concerning NCOS and the ability to bypass the NCOS settings from any given phone. On any phone that has NCOS set to 0 (I beleive this would only allow internal calls, users are able to bypass this setting by first dialing 7. How can that ability be removed?

What is 7? answer this question and then we might be able to help without guessing.

LD 20
REQ PRT
TYPE DNB
DN 7

Apparently 7 has the same functions as does 9, it allows an outside line. Normally when someone wants an outside line you dial 9 first, then the number. This system also has 7 setup in a similar manner. So in short, when NCOS is set to 0 (internal calls only), you're not able to dial 9 for an outside line, but you are still able to dial 7, then an outside line. So, how can "7" be disabled?

Your not giving me any info I can use to help you, I need the info i asked for.

I guess I don't know how else to explain it, but I'll try. You have to dial 9 in order to place a call outside of the walls of the business (9 + the number,) providing that the particular phone has the NCOS set that allows outside calls. If the NCOS is set to 0 (zero), then that phone can only make internal calls. Even dialing 9 first will not allow an outside call to be placed because NCOS will not allow it. I have discovered that if you dial "7" first, you can bypass any NCOS restrictions that are on the phone. The NCOS setting is restricting "9 + the number", but not "7 + the number". That leads me back to my question: is there a way that I can prevent this? How can I disable "7" from allowing an outside line?

Go into LD 20 and print a DNB of 7, let us know how that digit has been defined in the system’s database.

This is what's returned on LD 20 DNB 7:
TYPE RDB
ROUTE 2

on LD 20 DNB 9:
TYPE NARS
NTBL AC1

Hope that helps.

It looks like 7 is the access code to route 2, if you use TARG/TGAR of 1 on all routes and phones, this will stop it.

We ask you questions and want you to post the results here so we can see for ourselves how things are programmed, NOT what you tell us as they are usually different. Can you scan and copy with your mouse and paste as your trying to type what you think is important to us and not what the system is really printing.
