We have a user who can't recieve any e-mail from anyone outside of our internal network. They can recieve inter-office e-mails just fine. All of our other users can get outside e-mail as well, it is just this one user and it just started 2 days ago. I have checked the pop3 connection settigns and they seem to be consistant. If I redirect his e-mail to go to my exchange user it comes to me just fine but when I change it back to his it never reaches him. ANy help or suggestions would be great. Thank you in advance.

back up emails via pst and then delete and re-create user see if this makes a difference also check to see if user has a limit on inbox

Sounds like hes got a rule to automatically delete all external mail / junk mail?

How did you 'redirect his email to come to your exchange user'?

Thanks for the advice i'll try it.

How did you 'redirect his email to come to your exchange user'?
In exchange in the connectors for POP3 you can select the user you want the mail to go to. I just selected my user instead.

Pop3 connectors aren't really the way Exchange server was designed to work - they're a bit clunky to say the least. You'd be much better off with an SMTP feed.

You haven't said whether he can still send externally.

Double-check to make sure that his user mailbox isn't mysteriously missing in the ESM Pop3 Connector properties area.

I had a "helper" accidentally delete some of these entries, and four or five users suddenly weren't getting outside mail, even though the MTA & Pop3 services were running.

Sure enough, those people had been wiped out. I entered their account information, and life was good again.

I'm having the same issue. Here is the error message that the sender gets back when they try to e-mail this individual, Permanent Failure: 553_Requested_action_not_taken:_mailbox_name_not_allowed_or_chunk_too_large
Delivery last attempted at Thu, 11 Aug 2005 02:43:14 -0000. What do I need to do to fix this? I'm new at administering exchange.
