I am using CR 8.5. Does anyone know how I can change my report layout to allow me to add fields past 132 characters

This comes up every now and then and is simple to fix.

Crystal defines the width of the page by checking the settings of your PCs default printer. You can fit more on the page by switching to Landscape or making the font size smaller.

To get even more width, you need to make crystal believe your default printer is more than a simple destop printer.

Hopefully someone can add the name of a decent sized plotter, some have been mentioned in older threads. Steve Phillips, Crystal Consultant

Thank you Steve. I was able to change my page width by choosing a plotter. I will share this with others.

If you are looking to export your Crystal Report to a data file, (.xls, .csv, etc.), then you only need to put the field on your report and make it one space wide and one space on either side. This allows you to cram as many fields across as will fit for the width allowed. Crystal exports the whole value of the field even though only a very small portion of it actually shows on the report.

I use Crystal to select data for files often. It's pretty slick.[2thumbsup]
