I am running win98. Exec backup cannot backup when the output is more than 4GB. The FAQ section of Veritas said it is not the limit of Backup exec, but of Win98.
Wrong.
They should treat this limitation same as the limit of 650MB on CD. I.e. they should create a chain of files, each is at 4GB size until they complete the backup (assuming the destination hard drive has enough space).

Does anyone know a software that performs SIMILAR functions as Backup exec and allows for the output larger than 4GB?
Thank you,
Luu

I don't understand what your problem is - you cannot back up more than 4GB at a time?

I backup 20+GB quite happily.

zelandakh,

What OS are you using? tanvien is using win98 and has been told that win98 can't output more than 4GB. Are you using win98? I'm using win2K so I can't help him on this.

How else I stated the problem? Even Veritas' Web site acknowledge this problem, and blames it on the limitation of FAT32. It's a matter of programming. PowerQuest can backup to more than 20GB, but it does not support specific files backup and restore.

tanvien,
I think you misunderstood my post....I know you are on win98. My comments were for zelandakh who said s/he has no problem backing up 20+ Gig, but didn't say what OS s/he is using. If zelandakh is also using win98 then they might have a solution for you...if zelandakh is not using win98 then like me (using win2k) then the situation isn't the same.

For zelandakh, forgive me for refering to you as s/he, but I can't tell from your name whether you are male or female, so I used s/he.

SQL Bill,
Sorry for taking it that way. I was responding to zelandakh too.
I am trying the demo version of NovaDisk by Nova Stor. It chokes (i.e. slows down significantly to about 0.1 MB per few seconds) at various points of the backup process. So far, no luck yet.
