I just installed SP3 on one machine to test it out and I've already run into a big problem. Outlook hangs when it tries to open any other programs, e.g. if a link comes in a received message, clicking the link will cause the hourglass icon to appear, but the web browser never starts and I have to end task Outlook. I cannot even start Word either--if I have Word set as my email editor, starting a new message will cause this hanging problem also.

Has anybody else run into this problem? Any fixes?
System is WinXP pro and Office XP pro with all patches and service packs installed.

well unfortunately, SP3 does not have an uninstall feature. Anybody else run into this problem and find a fix?

From Microsoft's Knowledge Base Article 832671:

Note After you install the update, you cannot remove it. To revert to an installation before the update was installed, you must remove Office XP, and then install it again from the original CD-ROM.

Have you tried 'detect and repair' from the help menu? though you'll likely need the CD.

Ken, just gave the detect and repair option a try. I was hoping it would revert the office installation back to the original SP1 state, but no luck. Problem still exists and SP3 is still there. I really don't want to reinstall the entire office suite, so maybe it's time for a new email client. Actually, I switched to OUtlook from Express after OE got messed up coincidentally. :)

Go check the other apps, eg within Excel there is an option in Tools / Options / General / Ignore aother Applications. This has been known to end up enabled after the SP has been installed. Uncheck it and try again - Might find the same in other office Apps as well.

Regards
