I am using Outlook 2002 (on Windows XP) and I have separate accounts on the machine.

Each user has a *.pst file in their profile and each are set up to connect and send & receive e-mail from Demon (ISP).

The problem is when a user sends and receives they get all e-mails waiting on the server, not just specific ones for them (as set up in the configuration). Obviously this causes lots of problems as the right people are not getting the right e-mails.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks....

create Inbox Folders for each users,
then go to Tools->Rules Wizard and create a new rule for each user so that if mail comes in with user1@domain.com it goes to user1's inbox folder, same for user2 etc..... Jay~

Thanks for the comments KeyTech...

The problem is though that the pst files are separate so making additional inbox folders wouldn't help. You have to transfer the files between each users pst file which is far too time consuming! Surely there must be an easy solution or does this all depend upon my ISP?

Any more ideas?

Any other ideas to either filter the e-mails or adjust the settings to allow separate e-mails...

are you using Internet Mail?? as in you have 'accounts' for each user? Tools->Accounts in here you will see all the mail accounts, for each user you can select weather you want to send/receive from the other mail accounts when checking from the users account....
EG, with user1 go to the accounts, and disable sending/receiving mail on user2 user3 user4.....
and for user2 disable user1 user2 user3.....

another option is to not save the passwords for each accout, so that when any user is checking for mail, he/she has to put in the password for their account, and as all the others require a password, the mail wont be recieved by any other accounts........ Jay~

I've tried doing that but I have an account which seems to download all messages no matter who logs onto the server... I've totally run out of ideas other than trying to create a rule to transfer the e-mails to other pst files when they arrive (not sure if this os feasible!)...

I don't know if this will help, but it's a way around your problem.

Set up a POP3 server on the machine, with a separate mailbox for each user. I have used VPOP3 (see with success, and it is very reasonably priced.

VPOP3 then connects to Demon and collects all your emails - you can schedule this to happen at certain times automatically. It then sorts messages into the separate mailboxes, according to rules that you have set up. Each user then logs into their own VPOP3 mailbox locally (without connecting to the Internet at all) and downloads their own messages.

The setup of VPOP3 is very easy, and the Help is genuinely informative.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm not really keen on splashing out more money when I'm already paying Demon ISP £20 per month to do something which I feel should be done as standard!

I've given up and decided to let each user log onto the computer using their own account. But the same Outlook post file is shared by all users so that everyone can read all of the e-mails. Unfortunately this also means shared Calendar, tasks etc. Not the most ideal of solutions but everyone is happy with the compromise.
