Outlook XP problem

When I set a reocrring event or appointment then try to set the reminder to anything more than 5 minutes, I get the error "The reminder for an occurence of "vacation,clayton" cannot be set to appear before the previous occurence. shorten the reminder time or lengthen the recurrence period."
There are no previous occurences of this event. I cannot find any information on this error and cannot resolve it. Any help would be appreciated.

Try this:

Close Outlook.
Start-Run and type:

outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy

(Yes, there's a space before the slash)

and hit enter.

Thanks I appreciate the input. It did not however work. Here is my theory.
I think that what it is doing trying to set a reminder for each occurence of the event. Thus the 3 day reminder I set, will not work for the next 13 occurences.
To test this, I put in the same event, no recurrence and also no error.
The next question is, how to overcome that. It seems very odd that it would want to set a reminder of each recurring instance of the same event.
