I am going absolutely barmy trying to get some code from a Dreamweaver created web page into a new mail message(HTML) in Outlook XP. I cannot believe it is not possible!!!???? I know it can be done in Outlook Express (a program normally used by less demanding users).

Has anyone achieved it in Outlook XP?
Is it impossible?

I would be grateful for any tips to get around it within Outlook XP. Otherwise I know that I can do it in Outlook Express and email it to myself, but if Outlook XP can't do it, 'HELLO MICROSOFT' we are in the 21st century you know!!! Well let's hope someone has achieved it...

Can you paste the code into other apps ... Notepad, Word, etc?
If so can you then copy it from there to Outlook?

What actually happens when you try to paste into Outlook?

[cheers] & all the best.

In Outlook Express when I start a new message, there 3 tabs, namely
EDIT, SOURCE AND PREVIEW

All I do then is select the SOURCE tab, clear the existing code and then copy and paste the source code from my HTML Dreamweaver document into the space. I then click the EDIT tab and hey presto my web page is perfectly displayed.

Now how on earth is it done in OUTLOOK XP??????

Firstly, make sure you are using Outlook email editor, NOT Word.

Then RMB in the clear area of the new email & select View Source, then Notepad should open up showing the HTML header.

I tried what you suggest and it seems to take me one step closer, but when I clear the source from the Outlook HTML editor notepad page and paste in the code from my Dreamweaver page and save the notepad editor, the email page remains blank.

I have resorted to a rather crude yet somewhat effective method to achieve my goal and is as follows:
1. open a new html email message
2. now using browser( I use Mozilla)open html web page that I want to send and click onto it and select all and copy
3. click into new html email clear area and paste
4. Voila!!!
End of story.

By the way thanks for all your help which did get me part of the way there.

If you use Internet Explorer, you will be viewing your webpage, then see the menu at the top of the page. Choose "Tools", "mail and news" , "send page", thne if Outlook XP is your default e-mail program, it will create a new e-mail message .
viola!
Good luck

Hi Brendaly

I just tried what you suggest. All that seems to happen is that the html file gets attached to a blank email. There must be some kind of security risk that IE cannot handle and that is why it is not straight forward in Outlook. However the less security conscious using OE have the priviledge of doing amazing things with HTML. Ironic isn't it?

Hi, Emerald

What I do is:

Create a new HTML message

Click on Insert/File
In the insert file dialog, find the .htm file & highlight it.

Next to the INSERT button, there is a dropdown button, use it and select the option "insert as text"

Voila,

This even works if you have some HTML text already in the msg, just position the cursor to where you want to insert before starting the process.
