Outlook XP - delay in receiving new mail 2

I have Outlook 2002 (Office XP) installed on an XP Pro SP2 client.

The settings are configured to check for new mail every minute.

When the user receives new mail, it doesnt appear in the Inbox, when he hits Send/Receive, but when you click on any folder in the Mailbox, it appear instantly.

Any ideas?

This is most likely due to XP SP2's firewall blocking the UDP packets that trigger new mail notifications. Have a look here for the MS solution:

Oh My Word!! First day at this site (on recommendation from my son) and right away I find a solution that I thought was buried in MS graveyard!! Thanks so much for this I have been trying to help someone with this one for 3 weeks!!
