I would like to send an e-mail-shot with a logo. I'd like the recipient to see it as I prepared it (not as an attachment)
If I prepare it in Word, save as HTML, and Send, it arrives in Outlook as text with the logo attached.
If I copy and past into Outlook (mail format set to HTML) it takes a very very long time to Send and to Receive.

Is there a neat solution?

90% of my e-mail incoming is spam with a graphic content (not that - usually selling investments)- if they can do it why can't I?

Hello... is anyone there?

Is my question too vague, obscure.. stupid?

Please somebody speak to me.....[bigears]

Hi, Bill

I'm suspecting the problem is your graphic is too high resolution. If you use Word with a large bitmap then the html msg can often be well over 1 or 2 megs in size.

What I usually do is reduce the size of the bitmap to at most 600x600 pixels. Then I copy it to the clipboard and paste it into the html message. As long as you keep your bitmap size and color depth reasonable the message won't be too large and it will transfer reasonably quickly.

BTW I use Irfanview to manipulate the image - it is easy to crop and scale and adjust color depth.

Thanks Jock

I hadn't thought of that but I've looked at the two images and one is 692x23x8=80kb and the other is 690x23x8=16Kb.

both as viewed by Irfan which I also use.

I got them as a Word document and copied into Irfan

The .doc is only 75kb and there is a folder "same_name_files" with some .png images - about 65Kb

Hi, Bill

Well, those sound like very reasonable sizes. How big are the messages in Outlook? Also it would be helpful to know which version of Outlook and how you are connected i.e. dialup via ISP, lan to mail server or whatever.

Hwvr, when I copy a 41K .jpg file from irfanview and paste it into an empty html message, the resulting message size is about 900K in outlook, for a basic hello world with picture. JPG's are highly compressed, but to send in an email they have to be encoded which takes much more space.

So if your connection is slow or if messages are queued based on size it can take awhile.

The spam msgs you receive usually only contain references to the graphics in the html of the message, and the graphic gets downloaded on the fly when you open the message. That's why they are so much smaller than messages you create with embedded graphics.
