Outlook won’t/can’t authenticate for pop3/Imap

Bit of a Newbie in the world of Pop3/Imap, but here's my problem. I'm Running Exchange 5.5 on Win2k Server, w/all updated SP on both. I can Ping the server. I can also Telnet all ports Ok. I even retrived mail on Pop3 w/Telnet.
Probelm is getting any version of OutLook to Logon. I sure I'm missing something somewhere?????

common mistake is typo in the microsoft excahnge server filed" people usually jump a step ahead and fill in the person names. pay attention to what you are asked for
