Dear All,

I have a perplexing situation.

Information (in this forum), the MS TechNet reference material, numerous books, all suggest you can change the HTTP default port for OWA from 80 to something else. Some references even encourage this for security reasons. In the Exchange System Manager.. Help.. it explains how this can be done.

Having tried this and failed I addressed MS.

The answer was that you cannot change the default port. This being due to hard coding in Exchange.

If you setup another virtual server on the same machine it has to be port 80 aswell.

Could someone that has done this successfully respond or perhaps a MS 'person' may want to make a statement.

Thanks and regards,

Dave

open your Internet Information Services, go to the Default WebSite - Right-click to get to the properties and on the Web Site tab, change the port 80 to any free port you want, for example 2080.

You can then access the server by using:

Marc,

I don't believe it but it works! Many many thanks. The trick is putting the :<port_number> after the domain name.

All the documentation says put the :<port_number> thus \EXCHANGE\user:<port_number>.

Any other comments??

Thanks again,

Dave

well no, if it works, as it should have, then you are all set to go.
I know it is a common mistake to put the port behind the link, and I don't know where they get that from, but it is wrong, as you noticed.
