I've just installed a Cisco Pix 506E to use strictly for my users to VPN into my corporate network. The VPN client connects great and I can ping internal addresses as well as internal host names, so I'm resolving names. My problem is Outlook won't connect to my Exchange server. I get the "Retry, Work Offline, Cancle" pop up. I can see network resources like shared folders, etc. so I know I have to be close. I've searched the site and Googled my problem, but woth no real luck. Any thoughts anyone?

Edit your HOSTS file in your System32 directory. You need to add your exchange server's name and its private IP address to it, run ipconfig /flushdns, establih VPN connection and try to ping Exchange by name, see if it resolves properly and gives you reply. This should fix your peoblem provided the VPN is working correctly.
I know you tested your name resolution aleady but this normally fixes the issue.

Thanks N0ktar! It worked great.

What specific ports did you open to allow the outlook client to connect?

I didn't open any ports. I'm not using the Pix as a firewall, I have a different piece of equipment for that. I only use it for my VPN clients. I have the firewall portion of the box locked down. I don't place any restrictions on VPN traffic, so it's not necessary to open any specific ports through that VPN connection.
