outlook templates, stationery - fixed position graphics

Anybody wrestled with Outlook with the following (I'm using 2000, but they may all handle this situation in a similar enough way)?

I am designing a custom stationery for use as a organizational letterhead template. There is probably an easy way to fix the positioning and surrounding space below it (it's as a header before any text) so that it can't get moved downward and out of position accidently.

I am thinking to go back into the image editor, and and space below the image on the (transparent) canvas. This should force empty space below the graphic, but wouldn't do anything for a secretary tabbing her way into the text/ body area, and then just starting to type. This would cause the type to be above this header graphic.

Also, I wanted to add a footer graphic at the bottom. I have it set up now as a signature, so that it can be 'rubber stamped' into the bottom, but it's a rinky-dink solution. I haven't worked with the VBA - is that what these answers would take?

Thanks, thanks, whoever you are - really!

Hi I am also working on the same item. I have a pretty nice animated signature that assembles quickly on the receivers inbox. It was put together in Frontpage 2000. You should be able to do the same for stationary.

let me know how its coming.

Thanks for the reply.

Actually, I'm not after the stationery part so much as in creating a form from it, similar to the fixed headers and footers you can create in a Word file. Outlook has features for designing forms and templates, but there doesn't seem to be much documentation on using graphics with these. Certainly these features have been explored in corporate environments, but I haven't seen anything.

Has anyone?

form as in ?

I used to use some of them in the past for daily sales reporting from the sales units we have. There are several sites to see on outlook one of them is somthing like slipik or somehing like that. try a google on outlook forms you may have better luck.

Please dohowever give us some more detail of what you wish to do. I'm thinking that it is not in the stationary area at all but under forms. There is only one problem that I remember in that you had to send the format with the email which increased the size of the file.

Cheers Jon

Wow, this was a great idea. I don't know why I didn't search this way - just didn't think of it I guess. Anyway, google should keep me bnsy with this for some time.

Thanks for your help. Essentially, I am working with an organization that has an email list. I want to embed our email stationery so that it cannot be pushed out of position by type, etc.

This should help me find it.

Thanks Jon,
Glenn

Hi Paperlion

I have just been endeavouring to do the same, i.e. replicate a company letterhead into a stationery item for their MS-Outlook.

What I have found is that creating a html template file pointing to images and then selecting the html template file seems to work OK.

My problem is the I have a header and a footer - 2 separate images that need to be top / bottom aligned. This seems to be more difficult to achieve.

Good luck - if you've found any good sites that provide tips / tutorials then I'd be keen to hear from you.

NigeW, hi...

Well, I've sort of put this behind me for now due to the lack of what I've been able to come up with.

It's kind of ad hoc, but you can create a footer as a signature, and just sort of rubber stamp it at the end of a letter. Anything more professional I don't know how to do. I did come across one Outlook forms forum somewhere, where it seemed indicated that the program was not capable of footers. If this is the case, it is probably because they have to be placed anew with each line written above them.

If I'm wrong though, I sure would like to know. It would be a great feature for Outlook.

Good luck.

The way that I do this is to use an html template coded with css to hold the position of our company logo (which is stored on our web server, so we don't have to include the image with the send, but you could do either). I know html emails are not the favourite of everyone, but thats another story... -
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<STYLE>
BODY {
MARGIN-TOP: 50px; FONT-WEIGHT: normal; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: "Arial", "Verdana", "sans serif"
}
.allermuir {
position: absolute; top: 1mm; left: 1mm
}
</STYLE>

<META content="MSHTML 5.50.4134.600" name=GENERATOR></HEAD>
<BODY bgColor=#ffffff>
<DIV CLASS="allermuir">
<P><IMG SRC="[URL unfurl="true"]http://www.allermuir.co.uk/emaillogo.gif"></P>[/URL]
</DIV>

</BODY></HTML>
