During the day, Outlook stops getting email. I can surf using IE or Outlook, so I know the I can get my email using Mail2Web, so I know the server is not busy. I use 3 different ISPs and it's the same for all. The error message is always "Outlook could not connect to your email server". The only way I have found to fix it is to reboot. Outlook is not set to be offline but anyway I can surf from within Outlook. Win-XP-Pro SP-2 / Office 2003 SP-1 / 2-way cable modem / 2Gig RAM / 2 Xenon CPUs / lots of space on 15k RPM SCSI drive array.

If it's Outlook you're using and not Outlook express it could be the size of your PST file. If it's close to or over 2Gb it can cause all sorts of problems.

My Outlook.pst file is about 330Mb, my Archive.pst is about 640Mb.

Any other ideas out there?

What antivirus & firewall software are you using? Try temporarily disabling the e-mail scanning component of your antivirus software. Don't disable the on-access scanner, though.

I use the latest TrendOffice for firewall and AV. I have tried removing it from my system with no change in Outlook's behavior.

Thanks for the suggestion, though...
