I just switched from a dial-up connection to DSL. My POP3 and SMTP were working fine, but now that I have switched to DSL I cannot send messages and continue to receive SMTP errors.
Is there any type of setting that I need to make when switching from dial-up to DSL?
Thanks in advance for any input!

Thanks for the quick response!
I was using my own mail server (and SMTP) for my web hosting account -- so I figured it shouldn't make a difference with dial-up or DSL, however I did try using my new DSL SMTP account also...neither worked. I know I must be missing some simple setting -- this is SO frustrating, and e-mail is so crucial.
Anyway, thanks again!

Sure...
Some ISPs won't let you use a proxy server, and I think that's what you're doing if you have your server as the outgoing...

Make sure you've got the right syntax for your ISP. If you can't find it, give us the ISP's web URL. Not all use smpt.ispname.com, some use just mail.ispname.com, some use .net, etc....did you check? Anne Troy

Ok, I think I may have an idea of what's happening. I'm not using a Proxy Server, but have installed a router (D-Link 614+, my ISP's SMTP is "outgoing.verizon.net").

Do you think I need to some how configure the router to work with my SMTP? But then that brings up the question of why can mail be received, but not sent?

Thank you!

I realize that this may be a little niave, but did you check the Connections setting under properties for the email account. You said that you were using dialup, now that you are on DSL you should only need to switch from the Dial up option to the LAN option.
Just a thought.

Yes, I did confirm, and it's set to "LAN"
Thanks for suggestion...

I still cannot get Outlook to Send e-mails...I'm getting this error message from "System Administrator" after I attempt to send:

"The following recipient(s) could not be reached: 'jc_frank@hotmail.com' on 2/23/2003 9:05 AM
550 relaying mail to hotmail.com is not allowed"

Does anyone know what the "550" relaying error means?

Again anyhelp would be great. Thanks!
