Hi guys,
I know this is a simple one, think I have done this before, but can't seem to find the answer. I want to make a contact list I have imported available as an address book, but the option is greyed out. What do I need to do to retrieve this option?

Thanks in advance for your help.

What format is your contact list (the one importing) in?

In Outlook:
File->Import/Export->choose file type(refer above) and follow the wizards commands. I hope this helps, but maybe I am misunderstanding you problem.

What version or Outlook are you using? The steps are different... the bottom line, Outlook Addressbook has to be added to the profile. Then the option will become available. If you need the steps, please reply with the version of Outlook

sorry, using outlook 2000, the imported file is csv, but i don't have the option in any of my contact folders. I don't think that is the problem, probably just not loaded in at installation.

Thanks for the quick response.

Do this...

File > Exit from Outlook

Go to Control Panel
Double click the MAIL icon.
You should see Services > Delivery > Addressing tabs
Click on SHOW PROFILES.
Highlight the profile being used and click PROPERTIES
Click ADD
Add Outlook Address Book.
OK out of all of this and close the Control Panel.

Now go back to Outlook. Right click on Contacts > Outlook Addressbook Tab and the option will be available.

Have a great day!

Perfect! You get a star from me! Thanks for your time!

THANKS... this is my FIRST Star :)

Go me!

Was extremely glad to help!

You wouldn't happen to know how to fix this with Outlook 2002 by any chance?

I have a user that is having this problem?

Thx,

Byron

Same thing only a little bit different.

In Outlook, go to Tools > Email Accounts (3rd from the bottom of the Tools menu).

Under DIRECTORY, choose "Add New Directory'

Then Additional Addressbooks.

Outlook Addressbook, ok, this and it will prompt you that it will not take effect until after you log out and log back in so you must go to FILE > EXIT to close outlook.

Reopen Outlook and the Outlook Addressbook will have been installed, and you will then see the contacts.

Hope this helps!!
