My boss has just complained to me about outlook not returning names when he types the surname into the "To" field.

Last night he could remember the surname of the guy he was trying to email, but typing that in failed to return the address.

For Example:

I want to email "John Smith" but I can only remember his name is something Smith. I want to know if there is a way to get outlook to return John Smiths email address in the "To" field when you type in the word Smith

Hope that all made sense

If I read you correctly, you want to find the e-mail address for someone that is in the remembered e-mails but not saved as a contact. Outlook stores this data in the hidden applications data folder for the user (under documents and settings in XP).

A google search for extracting data for NK2 turned up a thread with a couple of links to utilities...

I am familiar with Slipstick.com. It is an excellent resource for all things Exchange and Outlook. That is as far as I went, I did not look at the websites myself. Good luck.

My solution for this issue is that i search everything with my search tool if i´m not able to find something directly.

I use Lookeen, this tool is able to search my whole Outlook content, it also searchs within attachments and in the calendar or for contacts.

Maybe this tool will be a great solution for your boss?
Take a look on it at
