Outlook Public Folder Question 2

What can the Public folder be used for? I mean, can I create a calendar within it that every Outlook member can see?

Public folders are an easy and effective way to collect, organize, and share information with others on your team. You can use public folders to share files or post information on an electronic bulletin board. Public Folders can also be used to store items such as calendars and contacts that are shared by two or more people.

Stored on Microsoft Exchange Server computers, public folders are created and designed by administrators and others in your organization who have the appropriate permissions. These access permissions determine who can view, create, and modify items in the folders. Anyone who uses your mail server can read and post to your server's public folders, and they can read and post to public folders on other servers.

Depending on the server where a particular public folder resides, you may be prompted for security credentials, such as a password, when you attempt to access that folder. For more information, see the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server online documentation.

I would like to create a public calendar that every Outlook member can read only. Then use this calendar to link to other member calendars. This way this public calendar serves as a master calendar. Does the administrator create the calendar then give ownership rights to a specific member or give a member ownership rights to create such a calendar? Where does the administrator do this?

It is pretty technical, but your Administrator should be able to work from it.
