Does anyone know how to bypass thisin Outlook 2000, or Outlook XP? I have an application (access) which automatically generates an email when information is entered in the db. When generating the email it brings up the outlook profile box and you must choose which profile to use. I only have one profile set up and have checked "always use this profile" numerous times, yet it always prompts you to choose a profile. Does anyone know how to bypass this, I would like to make it a seemless process and this is my last holdup. Thanks for any help.

In Outlook under Tools, then Options, then Mail Services tab make sure that prompt for a profile to be used is not selected and that Always use this Profile is selected. I think you may have already done this but if that doesn't work try running the repair option or just reinstall Outlook.

I wouldn't reinstall Outlook. Although I don't know the exact answer I know it has to do with how MAPI is being called and because you probably have not connected to a server when MAPI is called.

If you have Outlook open already I bet it doesn't prompt for a profile.

Maybe someone knows some code on how to get around it but I do believe that this behavior is by design. joegz

Joegz, you are correct, if outlook is open it does not prompt me.
