I have Mac OS 9.2 (classic environment) that handles Outlook 2001 and Mac OS X that handles my other Office applications. For some odd reason, my 'Personal Folder' in Outlook cannot open due to some error. I tried looking for what was wrong and the only thing that looks odd is that this 'Personal Folder' on my hard drive is a Document!?! How can this be? What can I do to change it back?

Also, I have another question regarding my 2 OSs: When I'm working on Outlook and try to open up another application, let's say Word, Outlook shuts-down and my other application opens up properly. Is it b/c I have Outlook on 9.2, i.e. Classic Environment and the other software on X?

Thanks a bunch!!

Try renaming the personal folder to "personal folder.pst" it may have lost this extension at some point . I recently had a similar problem with a users personal folder which had become corrupted . As far as I know Outlook 2001 doesn't have a folder repair utility like Outlook 98/2000/Xp does . I had to install Outlook 8.2.2 for Macintosh which does have a repair utility and fix it that way . Alternatively you could possibly transfer the personal folder onto a PC and repair it from there and then transfer it back ( .pst files are compatible on both Mac and Windows machines ) .

As to Outlook closing down when you open an office document , I would agree with you when you suggest that it is because you have Outlook running in Classic and Office in OSX .

Hope this helps
