Outlook - Out off Office Assistant not working

Hi,
We got an Exchange 2000 sp3 running on a W2K sp3 and the Outlook clients are 2000 and 2002.

If I enable the Assistant it does not reply to any recipients outside the organisation. I have also tried using the rules but still the same...

any one with a god hint ???

I am running exchange 5.5 so I don't know what 2000 looks like. I enabled my out-of-office-assistant by going into the configuration/connection/internet mail service. In the 'internet mail service' screen click on tab name 'internet menu', then 'advance options', then check off the boxes to enable out-of-office-assistant.
