I am looking for some help with turning off the Out Of Office Assistant on Outlook 2003. The Exchange server is 5.5. A user turned the Assistant on before he left for vacation. Now that he is back he is unable to turn it off and gets the following message on his desktop - "The command is not available. See the program documentation about how to use this extension". Any help would be appreciated.

If you are using cached mode on the Client, have you tried recreating the user's .OST file? Also, if webmail is setup, the user should be able to turn it off using webmail.

You receive an error message when you try to start the Out of Office Assistant in Outlook 2003 : See MS KB article 823472.

For Office XP (2002) : SE MS Article 327353

(Same resolution proceedure)

As a temporary fix, if you are running OWA, the user should be able to control Out of Office frome the web interface until you can run the fix on their client machine.
