On a Win2K system, Office 2K

When opening email attachment xxx.csv, the file opens correctly with Excel

When opening email attachment xxx1.csv, the file opens a System32 folder and does not open excel.

These csv files are from our own system. The same file name is emailed twice a day. We have experimited with changing the xx1.csv name to xxx2.csv and it will open fine. The system32 folder only opens when opening the xxx1.csv file.

Any ideas of what could be causing this, and how could I fix it.

Just bumping this up. has anybody else experienced this. We have 2 different users with the same problem. One opening and .xls document and one with a .csv document

Same problem here. I'm thinking it might be profile related as I can open attachments fine with my logon. Anyone else want to chime in?

The problem was with permissions for me. I was able to correct the problem of not being able to open attachments in Outlook by changing the security permissions on C drive. I removed everyone and added system and authenticated users. It worked for me as domain admins was on the security tab. This is something we normally do in our setup as we have found this to be a problem before with some software we use..All is well in Outlook now.

What doesnt make any sense is on each users computer it a attachment that has a specific name.

One comes from the A/S 400 as a .csv attachment. (we fixed this one by renaming the .csv file)

One comes from a user as a .xls attachment. the receiving user can open other .xls attachments from the sender.

One of my users had the same problem. I ran with the permissions idea, but it didn't solve it for me, plus I didn't want to modify permissions on every one of my supported systems. Try this out:

The file is temporarily stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder:

%systemroot%\documents and settings\username\local settings\temporary internet files\olk77

Look for the file and delete it (and any others you think may be having this problem)

Try it again. This has worked for me a couple times now.
