Could someone please tell me why my Outlook 2000 client has suddenly stopped me from access news groups.

When I try and read a news group I get the following error
"The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server"

The details button shows :-
Configuration:
Account: news.microsoft.com
Server: news.microsoft.com
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0f

Please help newsgroup can sometimes be the answer to all my problems.

Thanx

It could be that your network administrator has blocked Port 119 or you have a new router/firewall with Port 119 blocked by default.

Cheers.

Outlook 2000 ? I suppose you mean Outlook Express.
I could be the server itself has temp. problems.

Nothing as changed on the server,my PC needed formating because of HDD problem. When I re-installed Outlook 2000 I kept getting this error when trying to use Outlook express for newsgroup reading. My PC is XP Pro.
It was working fine before the format.
