One of the PCs in our office has lost it's menu bar in Outlook 2000. I've worked with toolbars -- showing and hiding them, but have always had the menu bar. Any ideas?
Here's a bunch of stuff you can try. Hope this helps!
1)Click on Tools=>Customize=>Toolbars. Make sure that Menu Bar is selected. Press OK
2)Click on Tools=>Customize=>Toolbars=Reset This should reset changes made to the standard toolbar. It may also reset the Menu bar so it's worth a shot.
3)Click on Help=>Detect and Repair. This will repair any missing or corrupted files associated with Outlook. This may also make the Menu Bar. It may ask you for your Office CD.
4) Make sure it's not hidden or accidentally placed on a different corner or outlook.
5)Do you use Word as your email editor?
If so it could be a problem with your normal.dot template file. Check this link out for more.
The majority of reported problems with non-functional or missing menus and toolbars can be traced to one of two causes: either the Normal template (normal.dot)
Renaming the Normal template resets several options back to their default settings, including custom styles, custom toolbars, macros, and AutoText entries. It is strongly recommended that you rename the Normal template file rather than deleting it, so that you can restore these settings if the template is not corrupt.
Certain installations of Microsoft Word may yield more than one legitimate Normal template file. These situations include multiple versions of Word running on the same computer or several user profiles on the same computer. In these situations, pay special attention so that you rename the correct copy of normal.dot.
To rename the Normal template file follow these steps:
Close all instances of Microsoft Word, including Microsoft Outlook if you use Word as your e-mail editor.
Search for all copies of the file normal.dot on your computer and either rename them to something like abnormal.dot or delete them.
Restart Microsoft Word and allow it to rebuild the Normal template automatically.
If Word starts correctly, you have resolved the problem. In this case the problem is a damaged Normal template. You might need to change a few settings to restore your favorite options. If the Normal template file you renamed contains customizations, such as styles, macros, or AutoText entries that cannot be easily recreated, you may be able to copy those customizations from the old Normal template file to the new Normal template file by using the Organizer.
I think you can go to Start=>Settings=>Control Panel=>Add Remove Programs and click on Microsoft Office. Click on Change and it will give you the option of repairing Outlook.
Also, you could always uninstall and reinstall it as a last resort. That should work
