outlook maxing out CPU usage 1

My computer isn't responding when I try and load my outlook mail service. I'm running Outlook 2003, and when ever I try to open it, it takes about 5 min to open. Then when I try to do anything, and I mean anything to it .. the program will max out the CPU usage and then I can't do anything. I have tried running a defrag, the available memory that I have is 256mb of RAM, which should be enough rigght?? Does anyone know anything about this

which OS your using? Are you connected to an exchange enviroment?

Try the following:
1. locate your Outlook profile. I.e. in XP it would be:
C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
2. create a folder somewhere called Outlook_Profile_Backup or whatever you like.
3. Make sure Outlook is closed, then cut only the "outcmd.dat" and paste it in the Backup folder.
4. Try opening outlook, if it dosent work cut the whole profile and paste in the backup folder.

Cant promise that will resolve your problem, but i had a user with a very similar problem and it helped.

happy it helped. That problem gave me a hard time until i found the solution. I am curious, you only needed to delete the outcmd.dat, right?

yeah that was the only thing that i had to do.. actually I moved the file and that's what fixed the problem. Not sure how that worked .. but I'm just glad that it's finally fixed .. I searched the world over for the answer to that problem



note: I didn't have to move the whole folder over ... just the outcmd.dat file..
