Outlook locks up when Right Fax is received

My company uses Right Fax which connects to Exchange server to deliver faxes to our user's Inboxes. All of our users are on Outlook 2000.

I have one user whose Outlook completely locks up when she receives a Right Fax. She needs to End Task it and restart it.

So far, I have removed and reinstalled Office 2000 to no avail, then completely re-imaged her PC with a Ghost image for that model yet it still happens! No one else has reported this issue.

Any ideas?

Thx,
Phil

Is this when the fax is initally received or when she tries to open the fax? Does this happen when she opens the message or the TIFF image itself? Make sure you have the TIFF files associated with some king of viewer like Kodak imaging or a fax viewer.

Try this:

1) Have user log onto another machine and try again.
2) Try a new profile (probably did with the reimage but it does not hurt).
3) Maybe it is the form that is causing the lockup (ipm.envelope.?)
4) Check the app log for errors
5) usually once rightfax delivers the fax, then rightfax is out of the picture.
6) long-shot - check the permissions of the user. If you see an 80040005 error make sure the user has full control using Outlook.

If this does not work, send me some more info...

Good luck,

Milan

We got this resolved last week. Her McAfee 8.0i client was set to scan email on delivery. We turned this off since all email is scanned on the Exchange server before it gets to the client. The user is OK now.

Thx!
Phil

What's happening is that McAfee doesn't like the path & filename of the TIF image attached by the RightFax connector. I understand there is a patch available which goes on the RightFax server.

Your RightFax maintainer should be able to get it if you tell them that you are using McAfee.
