When I opened up MS Outlook 2002 this morning there was nothing there!! After some panic... I found the file Outlook.pst and I imported it back into Outlook which retrieved all my messages, contacts,...etc.

However, I did lose the setup for all my email accounts as well as the many rules which I had previously set up! Is there any way to save this information so that if this happens again I can simply import the saved settings???

One other question... Now when I look at my InBox I see all the messages but I no longer have the window pane at the bottom showing me what is in the clicked on message... there must be a way to control this somewhere but I cannot find it!

It sounds like you somehow lost your profile or started using another. Look in Control Panel, Mail - see if you have any other profiles listed. While there, you can create a copy of the profile that you're using now.

For the other question...are you referring to the preview pane, where you can read the first few lines of the selected message?

smah,

Thanks for the quick reply. You were right on... I had obviously lost my profile. Interestingly... I have never looked at that Mail icon in Control Panel before!

This saved me a lot of time in terms of reconstructing all the rules I use... thanks.

Yes... I am trying to get the Preview Pane back. Any ideas?
