I've posted this before, but never got a resolution. "Outlook.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created" Outlook will not run, but Outlook express will. No viruses. Ideas?

You will need to give more details than this.

Have you got the latest SP installed for Office?

What other Apps are you using?

Have you tried reinstalling/repairing Office?

Office 97. No updates, using usuall stuff, excel & word. Started about two months ago. Only reason I want it is for my palm pilot.

| didn't think so, but I'm going to locate my palm software and install it again. I have the software for my old palm III, but now I'm using a palm V.

Uninstall the palm software, delete the palm directory on your c:drive and then install the latest version of palm. you can download it from the palm website.

Good thought, didn't work though. Even tried the cd. Thanks.

this is for outlook 2000 but i would imagine the steps to take and areas to investigate are sort of the same:

ms kb no. 297010

No Pain No Gain

Do you run some firewall/anti virus..
Could you shutdown your firewall.

Murugs, good thought. I've seen the ms thread, and it doesn't pertain, as this happens anytime using outlook. I haven't tried shutting down zone alarm though. (Running Norton for anti-virus, and it doesn't seem to affect it.) I'm going to try both though, and disable the firewall, and the email scanning and see what happens. Thanks.

MuRugs, shut down zone alarm, re-installed the palm pilot software, all seems well with the world. This is the longest time Outlook has stayed running since I don't know when. I've got 127 e-mails on my palm that I can read tomorrow. Here's the star, and thanks.

swagr,
I did not know about detect and repair feature in OLxp. I was having a similar problem (it was crashing on close) I ran the detect and repair tool and it looks like its working now.
Thanks!
