Hi there,
Was hoping that mabe someone could help me out.

We have a small network set up in the office with each person's inbox being distributed via ms exchange server. Unfortunately I have a problem with one of the email accounts. Whenever the 'sent' button is pressed outlook hangs. It doesn't display any error messages but sits on the compose message screen (the task manager displays outlook as, not responding). The computer eventually sends the email but it takes a good 10 mins to do so. Emails are recieved ok and I can send emails from the account on any other computer suggesting the problem is local. I Have also tried repairing and reinstalling outlook on the computer but so far it hasn't made any difference.

If anyone could suggest anything it would be much appreciated!

Thanks

your outbox may be corrupt. delete the outbox and recreate. That's where I'd start.

Thanks for the reply Michelle!

Finally managed to sort it out! Removed the exchange server account from the computer and re added it. Simple as that! Had been going crazy over this for ages! You were right, something must have become corrupt somewhere.

Thanks!

I have a similar problem... Outlook HANGS, especially when I go to the address book to select a name; it eventually begins but the delays are minutes long.

I too could not send anything from within the Outbox.. but I cannot seem to delete the OutBox... how exactly do I delete the Outbox... ?

by the way.. I deleted the CONTENT of the outbox and the whole OUTLOOK started working better.

John

Nope still HANGS... I have done an Adaware sweep and the system is clean.

It looks like the OUTLOOK.EXE consumes 99% of the CPU... does that fact help anyone... I hope so.

With or without an empty Outbox...

Any Clues... sorry about this one.

John

PS I am thinking of exporting my PST file and then doing a radical delete of Outlook (remove Programs) and then re-install. The re-importing my PST file.

OK SOME MORE CURIOUS CLUES...

If I run Outlook, it runs OK...
If there is a e-mail in the OUTBOX it is still OK BUT
WHen I try and send that Outbox file... CPU usage goes to 100%

SO I delete the file.. CPU Usage STAYS at 100%

SO I close OUTLOOK... and CPU Usage stays at 100%

look in task manager OUTLOOK.EXE is at 99%

When I kill that all is well, again.

Can someone tell me how to DELETE an OUTBOX so I can rebuild it ????

Cheers

JF

Hi FoxEgg,

The way I removed the mailbox was to navigate to tools > email accounts, view or change existing accounts, then selected my mailbox and pressed delete.

From the same menu you can also re-add your mailbox.

Hope this helps
