Hi,

My wife's PC just died. Old PC that she just used for email.

I have a new PC for her and I have installed Outlook on the new PC.

I can not get the old system to run, bad power supply.

I can connect the old hard drive to the new system,

So, I could search or load the Mail and address book from the old PC if I new what files to import or copy.

I know I should have a backup, but I do not.

Any way I can recover her Old Mail and Address book?

Thanks,
Hap...

Just search the "documents and settings" folder of the old hard drive for any files that end in .pst

Outlook stores your email in there. You can then access those PST's by doing a "File - Open - Outlook Data File". No need to import these into your new Outlook unless you really just want to. Use it as an archive instead and open it as necessary.

Good luck,

Also start doing backups. Set it as a recurring task on Outlook.

For the Address book will have an extension .pab

Why not just get a new power Supply and replace it? you should be able to get 1 capable for an email system for pretty cheap.. Well unless it's a Dell that is..but still should be able to get a Dell specific power supply for not too bad price..heck you might even be able to use the power supply from another computer to boot her old computer, then do a file and settings transfer to transfer her old settings to a disc or over the network to import into the new computer..
