Outlook gives a reminder for every new message..help!!!!

I have outlook 2000, and my pst file just got over 2gig and outlook would not open it.

I tried to fix it by doing the following:
--Downloaded a truncation tool from Microsoft and reduced the size of my pst
--Used scanpst.exe to repair my pst file

The above steps seemed to have worked because I was able to open my outlook, however,
I now have reminders poping up for every incoming message and this isso annoying. I tried to turn these reminders off by going to:TOOLS-->OPTIONS-->PREFERENCES TAB-->EMAIL OPTIONS-->DISPLAY NOTIFICATION MESSAGE BOX(but this box was not checked at all)

I also checked under: TOOLS-->OPTIONS-->OTHER TAB-->ADVANCED OPTIONS-->REMINDER OPTIONS-->(the optins where the same as befor i had the problem)

Another problem i have is that my contacts list is wiped out.

please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd reduce the pst size by archiving everything older than 3 months. Then compress and/or repair.

Thanks, I used the detect and repair tool under the help menu. It fixed the problem
