Hi,

About once every 5 times when I compose an email and press send, Outlook hangs for a few seconds and then becomes unresponsive. I was wondering if this could be a problem with my Outlook or if the exchange server is affecting it.

I'm on Outlook Exchange 2003 on a shared server hosted by a local company. The problem I'm experiencing only began a month ago when the server host switched us to a different server. This is not an isolated case. My boss's Outlook also acts the same way.

Any ideas? We're switching to a new hosting company next week, should I wait to see if that works out or should I just re-install Outlook beforehand?

I would wait for the new hosting company and see if that solves the problem. If it does, then you know that the problem was the hosting company. If the problem keeps occuring, then try re-installing outlook. In that case, it would more likely a problem not with the hosting company, but with your outlook.

Here's the irony of the situation:

I just discovered that the new company I signed up with is actually the company that my current exchange host provider is reselling to me. So essentially, I will still be with the same exchange host, but I may physically be on a different server.

So here's my question: can pending server requests cause Outlook to freeze? What normally happens is when it freezes, I end the program and as soon as I restart it, I am able to connect and there are no problems until the next random episode.

Are you using RPC over HTTPS? If not, try it, it may solve the issue if it's a connectivity related problem.
