We have two workstations both using Outlook Express and XP Professional. One is on a 56K modem the other accesses e-mail throught the office LAN (2000 Server).
On BOTH, the Outlook Express takes sometimes in excess of 5 minutes to load up. After that, it runs fine.

Other machines on the LAN running XP Pro or W2k and Outlook Express are fine and fast and so is the only other machine running XP Pro on a modem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Liz

Do you have the AVG ( or any virus checker ) Outlook Express plugin, enabled ?
Try disabling it - my OE performance improved greatly once the plugin was removed.
Go to AVG Control Centre, Email Scanner tab to uncheck the plugin.

Not to sure if oe of the above links , refer to it , but having to many fonts installed can be a problem .

Outlook express,IE and messenger are linked if you do not have messenger running,(you do not have to be signed in). You need messenger running or you will look at outlook xp pane for at least one minute, and another minute to connect to your mail server. Fix is to go to MSN and redownload messenger.(bottem of their page).
If you are have administor right you will have no problems.
If you have users the user has to be changed to an administator, do download set up and then change back to user. Each user needs there own download they can not share.
