Our lan has a fileserver (window 2003) and 7 workstations (XP Pro). When using MS Outlook/OE, on my workstation, my email send/receive fails. Error message: Protocol SMTP, Port 25, Secure(SSL): NO. Socket Error: 10061, Err no.0X800CCC0E. Same for POP3, Port: 110. Talked to our ISP and Dell. They said port 25/110 are being blocked by either the Firewall or Anti-virus (Norton). Using the Fileserver, I am mostly successful, although from time to time, I also get an error message that I need to receive before I can send. We have a primary router (black box) provided by Covad and a secondary router (Linksys) that all the workstations connect to. I believe the fileserver uses a static IP address for the gateway. The workstations are dynamic by default (DHCP). The fellow who set our equipment (Dell) is no longer around. No problem running IE, though. Any suggestions? Thanks.
